The Characters of Ladle Filler Sand
2025-10-24
The steel ladle filler sand prepared with chromite sand and quartz sand as the main raw materials and adding spherical casting sand and carbon black the following characteristics:
1 Flowability and sintering performance
The addition of spherical casting sand can improve the flowability of sand particles, ensuring that the molten passes through the water hole smoothly; quartz sand, as a refractory material, can enhance high-temperature stability, and the high Cr₂O₃ content (35-45%) of chromite sand improves corrosion resistance.
2 Steel ladle self-flowing tapping performance
The addition of carbon black can adjust the sintering speed avoiding excessive sintering at high temperatures, which could lead to a decrease in the self-flowing rate of the steel ladle; at the same time, its low- property helps to reduce the risk of molten steel penetration, achieving an automatic tapping rate of over 98%.
3 Composition and purpose
This formula mainly usesite ore (with a Cr₂O₃ content of 35%-45%), quartz sand provides high-temperature resistance, spherical casting sand improves processability, and black optimizes sintering control. It is suitable for the continuous casting process of large steel castings, can replace traditional silica riser sand, reduce manual intervention, and product quality.
