The Role of Porous Plug Pad Brick
2025-10-20
The primary functions of ladle Porous Plug Pad Brick are to protect the air brick core, cushion the impact of molten steel, and reduce direct contact between the Porous Plug Pad Brick and the refractory materials at the ladle bottom, thereby extending the air brick service life and ensuring safe operation of the refining process.
1 Specific Functions
Cushioning Molten Steel Impact: After the ladle is filled with steel, the air brick core is subjected to the static pressure of the molten steel. The Porous Plug Pad Brick, through their structural strength and pressure resistance, effectively cushion the direct impact of the molten steel on the air brick core, preventing premature damage to the brick core.
2 Protecting the Air Brick Core: The Porous Plug Pad Brick, located beneath the Porous Plug Pad Brick, utilize the thermal stability and corrosion resistance of the refractory material to reduce damage to the air brick core caused by molten steel penetration and high-temperature erosion.
3 Synchronous Erosion: Ideally, the Porous Plug Pad Brick should erode simultaneously with the refractory materials at the ladle bottom to avoid leaving the Porous Plug Pad Brick unprotected due to localized refractory spalling and reduce the risk of cross-sectioning of the Porous Plug Pad Brick.
4 Construction Aid: During installation, the spacer bricks fill the gap between the base bricks and the base, preventing the base bricks from hanging in the air and reducing stress concentration and the risk of leakage.
